11/14/2023 0 Comments Hostal murcia100 Montaditos is really close and cheap - 5 montaditos for $5. The bars stay open late.when I got up at 5:30 and left the hostal at 6am to catch an early flight, the streets and subways were packed with people just leaving the bars! There is plenty to do to keep busy. There was heating (which sometimes shut off, but I'm not used to heating in Spain!) and 2 blankets and a quilt, so we never got cold! There's no elevator so if you can visit Madrid out of a backpack, do that and you won't have a problem. Otherwise, the room was clean and the maid came every day to make the bed and clean the shower. The rooms also could get a little noisy when people walked by. It didn't bother me because I'm a heavy sleeper and tend to not notice things anyway, but it could be troublesome for some people (there was another hallway with rooms that weren't near the shared bathroom so it's only a problem with room 15 I think). Room 15 is next to the shared bathroom and you can hear people going to the bathroom and showering. Also, there's a large tv in the common room. The bathroom is almost the same size as the room the room itself is small and didn't have a tv, but you only need it to sleep. We had a private bathroom which was great, and the bathroom was very big and renovated with good hot water and good water pressure in the shower. The hostal smells like smoke when you walk in which made me nervous, but our room was ok. There's plenty to eat, see, and do near the hostal and to the left is a cobblestone pedestrian only street a few blocks from the Plaza Mayor. It's a block past the Puerta del Sol, which I learned on a City Tour was the old center of Madrid and I would agree it still is. The hostal itself is hard to find because it's located on the 3rd floor (4th floor in American terms) of an older building, so look for Hostal Arcos with the big yellow sign, and Hostal Murcia is on the floor above it. She was very easy-going and nice, and that was the only time I saw her or anyone else in the entirely sold out hostal. She didn't speak any English, but spoke Spanish slowly and easily and we had no problem communicating. We arrived around 11pm and I was worried we wouldn't be able to check in, but the owner was there waiting for us even at that late hour. And very very good located!! Totally worth the money and im very happy with my choice of this hostal!!… It was a very calm hostal, no noise at all. The lady has a dog, its a small dog but everytime it saw me he started to barking which i found a bit scary but it was not always in there. Met her son in the corridor once and he speaks perfect english. Totally worth the money!!! The lady working in there could not speak any english tho. It had a fan that worked perfectly and was enough for me. The room had a basin which were super good i think. My room were kinda small and the bed was small aswell but totally OK. I didnt see anyone living in this hostal while i were there and barely saw anyone working there either even tho i know there were other tourists cus it was fullbooked on internet. It was super good cause no one used the toilet so it was like my own. I stayed in a single room with sharing bathroom and toilet.
